It is roughly two hours each way on the Cairo–Suez road, and both the 1pm Semi-Submarine and the afternoon VIP Cruise leave enough margin to get back to Cairo the same evening. Honestly, no. Ain Sokhna sits at the northern end of the Gulf of Suez, where the water is cooler and the reef is younger and less developed than the southern Red Sea. What it offers instead is proximity: you get a real boat day, a seafood buffet and a snorkeling stop without a flight or a night away from Cairo. If the reef itself is your priority, book Hurghada or Marsa Alam.

A steep coastal mountain south of Ain Sokhna where the desert escarpment meets the Gulf of Suez almost vertically — it is the landmark on this stretch of coast and the VIP Cruise sails past it. Seen from the water at the right hour the rock goes from grey to deep orange. There is no landing; it is a sail-past, not a hike.

The Semi-Submarine departs from Marina Wadi El-Doum, directly in front of Porto Sokhna. The VIP Cruise sails from the same stretch of coast. The VIP Cruise is 1,600 EGP for Egyptians and residents, 2,450 EGP for Arab nationals and $60 for other foreign visitors — and the Semi-Submarine follows the same three-way split.
