Hurghada Boat Trips — FAQ

Which Hurghada boat trip is best for young children?
The Semi-Submarine reef tour. It lasts 1.5 hours instead of a full day, the viewing cabin is air-conditioned and enclosed, nobody has to swim, children under 5 travel free and ages 5–10 pay half price. If you also want beach time, the Classic Boat to Orange Bay is the gentler of the full-day options.
Is hotel pickup included, and from which areas?
Yes — transfers from your hotel are included on every Hurghada excursion on this page, and on the Nefertari cruise from Makadi Bay. Pickup covers the Hurghada hotel strip, Sakkala, El Mamsha, Makadi Bay and Sahl Hasheesh. If you are staying further out (El Gouna, Soma Bay, Safaga) message us with your hotel name and we'll confirm the pickup time and any supplement before you book.
What is not included in the price?
Everything on the boat is in the rate: hotel transfers, the buffet with hot and cold drinks, snorkeling gear, life jackets and the marine park fee. Two things are not. Snorkeling gear on the Nefertari cruise from Makadi Bay is charged separately at $5 a piece — it is the only Hurghada trip where that applies. And tips for the crew are at your discretion, never added automatically. There is nothing else to pay at the marina on the day.
What is the difference between Orange Bay and the Makadi Bay cruise?
Orange Bay is an island with a shallow turquoise lagoon and a beach you walk on — the Pirates and Classic Boat trips both stop there and run 9am to 4pm from Hurghada marina. The Nefertari cruise sails from Makadi Bay, 30 km south, lasts five hours, and is built around the boat itself: a pharaonic-themed interior, an underwater viewing cabin and a single snorkeling stop. Choose Orange Bay for beach time, Nefertari for the on-board experience or a sunset departure.
Do I need to know how to swim?
No. Life jackets are provided on every boat and the snorkeling stops are optional — plenty of guests stay on deck. The Semi-Submarine tour needs no contact with the water at all. If you would like a guide in the water with you, tell us when booking.
When is the best time of year for Hurghada boat trips?
Boats sail year round. March to May and September to November give the most comfortable combination of warm water and mild air. Summer is hot on deck but the sea is at its warmest, and winter days are pleasant with water around 22°C — bring a light layer for the return leg. Windy days occasionally shorten a route; the captain decides on the morning.
