14:00 — Pickup from your Cairo hotel. Drive via the Suez Canal tunnel through the Sinai desert. Arrive Saint Catherine approximately 22:00. Enjoy a hot dinner at the guesthouse. Rest for 2-3 hours before the big climb.
Begin the climb under a blanket of stars with your licensed Bedouin guide. The trail winds through ancient granite mountains — bring warm layers as temperatures near the summit can drop to near freezing. Arrive the summit (2,285m) just before dawn and wait for one of the most awe-inspiring sunrises on earth.
After the sunrise, descend (approx. 2 hours) via the camel path or the famous Steps of Repentance. Enjoy a hot breakfast at the guesthouse. When the monastery opens (09:00–12:00), explore its treasures: the 6th-century Basilica of the Transfiguration, the sacred Burning Bush, the ancient icon collection and the library of illuminated manuscripts.
